September 14, 2010 OMG What a spectacular place. It is truly beautiful here. The mountains are huge and craggy and some have snow or glaciers near their summits. The first thing you notice is the bear warning signs telling you that you are in bear country. You are also in mountain lion country. The park provided literature on safety as we entered. We have paid for 4 nights. After we got the camper settled in for the stay we drove the road leading to St. Mary’s. It has won the award for one of the most scary places I’ve ever been. It is 2 lanes scratched out of the side of the mountains and there is no guard rail at all. Much of the road is dirt and rocks and if you had to suddenly hit your brakes they would only slide. By the time we got back to the camper my nerves were shot. We built a camp fire and grilled in the evening and searched the nearby mountainside for mountain goats. The whole campground is surrounded with majestic mountains and a nearby stream and Two Medicine Lake. After it got dark, and the thought of a bear sneaking up, we went in.
